089: Beau Wanzer of Mutant Beat Dance, and Streetwalker

Here in episode 089 of Notes and Bolts, we hang out with Beau Wanzer, a man of many projects - his most active ones at the moment being Mutant Beat Dance as well as Streetwalker - about synthesizers, working with Jim Magas at Weekend Records and Soaps, and figuring out that Chicago is the best place to create.

Hydrobeast: Alien Hydra Commuters
Hydrobeast is one of the many aliases of Romulus Coeurque. Responsible for the Hypnobeat project (along with Piedro Insipiedo), they were interested in experimenting with poly-rhythms using multiple 808's and 303's. This track doesn't have the 'signature' sound of most of the Hypnobeat stuff.....but I really dig it.

Mutant Beat Dance: New News Is Old News
Melvin and I just jamm'n.

Robert Rental: A.C.C.
Robert Rental was a Scottish musician who worked with some of my favorite artists from the early Mute/Industrial Records days (Thomas Leer, Daniel Miller, etc). I think this is one of my favorite songs he recorded. Also check out his album with Thomas Leer called 'The Bridge' and his live
performance with The Normal....very inspiring stuff.

Hass-Bartel: Ima Iki-mashoo
Hass-Bartel (CH-BB) is Chrislo Haas and Beate Bartel. Haas was in the early conception of DAF and Bartel was a founding member of Einstürzende Neubauten and Mania D (side note...check out all of Mania D's stuff. it's killer). Along with Krishna Goineau they eventually formed Liaisons Dangereuses. This is from their early tape recordings and it's brilliant.

Perverse Teens: Numero Zero
Don't really know a lot about this project. The track was taken from a comp called Monstrueux & Magnifiques on the now defunct French label Invasion Planete. If your not familiar with the label you should check it out. Lots of weird synth-wavey-gooey-goodness. They did a label showcase in Chicago around 2003 that was amazing, unfortunately there were like 10 people at the show.

Streetwalker: Sun Song
Elon and I just jamm'n.
